I am a big fan of the Elf On The Shelf for one simple reason: my kids adore it. Sure, it’s a bit of a pain in the butt for my husband and I for the 30-something days he is here, but oh well.
(That’s why we keep printable excuses handy for when he forgets to move – ha!)
But I know a lot of people who feel differently about this little felt man that stalks your house and reports your behavior back to Santa. …And I can’t say I don’t get it. It is a bit strange.
So, if you’re someone who gets the heebie jeebies from the Elf On The Shelf but still like the idea of bating your kids into good behavior one month out of the year, check these out.
Fun Alternatives To That Creepy Elf On The Shelf
This little gadget is a pretend security camera from Santa himself. Of course, it doesn’t actually have an camera inside, but it does have a blinking light that makes it look legit to the kiddos. The good thing about it, is that you don’t have to move it everyday.
This is a faith based toy that encourages the true meaning of Christmas. It’s similar to the Elf because you do hide it everyday for kids to find while your shepherd makes it’s way to find the manger.
If you’ve got more ideas let me know! And if you are doing the Elf On The Shelf this year, make sure you print out these excuses in case you forget to move him!
