The Momversation up this week is about keeping a gun in your home. I love this topic so I’m going to go ahead and talk about it here. I’m going to go ahead and preface this entire post by saying that I am completely understand of people having a different opinion than mine on this issue. Just because I feel a certain way doesn’t mean I think I’m right.
Simply put, I believe in firearms. We own a firearm and I will continue to do so. That does not mean that the trigger is pulled quickly or that we would ever act irresponsibile in any situation. I think the key to gun control is responsibility. That is what it all comes down to for me. If you are responsible than likely accidents will not happen.
Let me get to the reasons why I feel the way I do. As much as I thought for quite a while that I’d like to have a gun, I was really nervous about buying one and having one in the house. I didn’t have any exact fears it just made me uncomfortable. A couple of years ago at some point in the middle of the night someone came up to our door and attempted to either push or kick it open. My in-laws lived with us at the time and my father-in-law was alseep on the couch. He jumped up, froze and ran over to the door and flipped the porch light on and the person ran away. He went outside and our chairs were knocked over and that was it. Hearing about this the other day made me completely fearful, what did they want? Money, tv’s or something worse?
