Since my son began Kindergarten this year, I kept wondering when I put him to bed each night, how much sleep does he need? Is he getting enough? Because when he wakes up in the morning he certainly doesn’t always seem well-rested.
The Academy of Sleep Medicine put out a new infograph for parents to reference that will let you know exactly how much sleep your kids need and I wanted to share it.
How Much Sleep Does My Child Really Need?
For Babies
Age 4-12 months: 12-16 hours including naps
For Toddlers
Age 1-2 years: 11-14 hours including naps
For Pre-Schoolers
Age 3-5: 10-13 hours including naps
For Elementary School
Age 6-12: 9-12 hours
For Teens & Tween:
Age 13-18: 8-10 hours
For Adults
Age 18 and over: 7 hours
