My kids and I over the summer took a weekend trip, just the three of us to do something really fun. Some would even say it’s bucket list kind of fun.
We went to swim with dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium.
To share this experience with everyone that is looking into going, I’m going to be completely honest about our trip.
First of all, getting into the water with a dolphin and touching it’s sweet face is awesome. It’s so cool because it is rare. You can’t go swim in the ocean and touch one in life so in order to do so we must hit up a place like Miami Seaquarium.
Which is why they can charge you so much dang money.
The cost for the Dolphin Encounter is $160 per person. So for us, yeah, it was times 3. That is not the same as a Dolphin Swim, which is $220 a person.
And if you wanted a photo of the whole thing, because you could not bring your own camera, you had to purchase a large package of $100+.
If I’m being quite honest, after our time was up, I felt a little bummed out.
We had spent hours waiting for our turn, changing into our wet suits, going through instructional videos, for a few minutes of brief touches with an animal that probably shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Plus, I had just paid a butt-load of money.
It’s not that I’m opposed to paying money for things that are worthy of it. I wrote here about the Universal Fast Pass and even though it was expensive was well worth every cent and I’d pay it again.
The rest of the Seaquarium was fun but slightly unimpressive.
My kids most favorite part of the whole thing was feeding the seals and getting to pet a horseshoe crab. Again, things you don’t get to do every day.
If I were to do it all over again knowing what I know now. I would have skipped over the dolphins and instead, done a seal swim.
The seals were SO much fun and for the same cost of touching a dolphin a couple of times you can swim with one.
If you’re planning on going to Miami Seaquarium, I would highly suggest skipping over the dolphins. The only way I would suggest it, is if it’s truly a life long dream of yours and Miami Seaquarium is the only way you’re going to make it happen.
What I will say of Miami Seaquarium is that the staff and dolphin trainers were great, there were not ridiculous lines, and it’s really fun to get up close with the birds they have.
Flamingos are beautiful and I loved being able to be so close to one.
My final recommendation: If you decide to take a trip to the Miami Seaqurium, make sure to consider swimming with the seals. ♥

Great tips! Number one thing that has ALWAYS saved me money is that I do the flight research in one laptop and end up buying the ticket on my other laptop. taxis Hersham
