So, number #81 on the life list was to watch “The Business of Being Born” by Abby Epstein and Ricki Lake. I really wanted to learn more about natural childbirth because I have had one very simple birth plan since thinking seriously about children. My birth plan? Schedule a c-section, cut the baby out and tie me up thank-you-very-much. I wanted NO part of a vaginal delivery. This documentary did not completely give me every answer to every question or concern but it did really get me thinking and reading and totally changed my mind. For real. No matter what your opinion is on birth I think you should just take an hour and a half and watch this. You may hate it BUT you may love it.

I had vag births, and they were so easy to recover from. I was up and moving around as soon as the epidural wore off.
On the other had, my bestie had one vag birth and one c-sec and she would take the vag bith anyday. She said it felt like her guts were going to fall out of her for everyday for about 2 weeks. That and you cant drive for 6 weeks after.
But you will do what is best for you and the baby when the time comes. And dont let anyone tell you your choice is wrong, because it is your choice and will be right, which ever route you go!

Of course do whatever is necessary to keep both you and a baby healthy but def vag birth is the way to go. Less pain in the long run and you can usually care for the baby a little better afterwards bc you yourself are feeling up to it. That is what I had and as long as you have an epidural I am sure you will barely feel anything. 🙂

Hmm…maybe I’ll take a shot and watch it. It won’t scare me away from having kids though, right?

That sounds really interesting … I’ll have to watch it. I’ve always hoped to have natural births, but I know that sometimes things happen that we can’t control, so I’ll be happy either way when the time comes. I think it’s awesome that you had an open mind and decided to weigh your options.

C-sections are harder to recover from and makes moving around with the baby hard. I had a vag birth and it really was not that bad, really…you forget about the pain once they plop that baby on your chest.
