Shout out to the daddies…
Not the guy that made a baby. Not the guy that never shows up. Not the guy that doesn’t care.
Shout out to the real daddies.
The ones that wake up early on Saturday morning and stir cups of chocolate milk.
The ones that sit snuggled up on the couch to watch another episode of that silly cartoon.
That rubs their back and brushes the hair out of their face.
That helps them blow their nose.
The ones that say YES when they say PLAY WITH ME.
Even when it’s the 10th round of Candy Land.
The ones that take them to the park and push them on the swing.
The ones that teach them how to pump their legs on the swing and smiles when they figure it out.
The ones that blow on the skinned knees and wipe the tears.
To the ones that throw the ball.
To the ones that give piggy back rides.
The ones that says NO to others so they can say YES to their kids.
To the ones sit and do homework.
To the ones that read books.
To the ones that hold them and comfort them when they are sick.
To the ones that carry the soft sleeping babies to bed.
To the ones that kiss their foreheads and tell them goodnight.
To the ones that stand in the doorway of their room wondering how he got so lucky.
To the ones that adore.
The ones that are patient.
The ones that teach.
The ones that truly love.
Everyone gets a father. Not everyone gets a daddy. ♥
