First there was the sonogram photo, then the incredible 3D images so we could see just what our little baby was looking like in the womb. Now, with technology advancing and people getting weirder, you can get a 3D printed replica of your fetus.
Yep, you read that right. You can opt for the face or go for the full body. Some will even match the skin tone to the parents.
The scans are taken at around the 28 week mark in pregnancy and then sent off for casting. The cost is averaging around $230.
As much as I love advancing technology when it comes to pregnancy and care for mom and baby, I’m not digging this idea. The images look too much like the replica of something we all pray to never hold in our arms: a stillborn baby. This isn’t just a fun little keepsake, it’s an expensive and eerie reminder of what could be. No, thank you.
But that’s just my opinion. What’s yours?
