Meghan Markle is about to become the first American princess since 1936. Though technically she won’t be referred to as Princess Meghan since she doesn’t have royal blood. (More on those confusing rules, here.)
Nonetheless, she’ll basically be a princess and that is something almost every girl has dreamed of at some point in her lifetime. Meghan is the first one in 81 years to actually get to live it.
But in order to marry her real life prince charming, she has to give up quite a few things ranging from her career as an actress to her dog. She has already sold her home in Toronto.
Here Is What Meghan Markle Has To Give Up In Order To Become A Princess
1. Her American citizenship.
Meghan will become a British citizen, which is something most consider a lengthy process. When she does, she will have to give up her US citizenship.
2. Her job as an actress.
Bottom line here, princesses don’t work. They just don’t.
3. Her dog.
Meghan says one of her beloved pups has already moved to the UK but one is too old to make the move. He’s staying behind in Canada with a friend.
4. Her charity work with the United Nations, World Vision Canada and One Young World.
The official response to her ending her charitable work is because she needs to focus on the UK and “start with a clean slate” whatever that means. For starters, she will be act as a patron of the Royal Foundation.
5. Her political opinion.
Of course she can have one, but she just can’t tell anymore. As a Royal you cannot publicly give a political opinion and even though they are allowed to vote, they don’t.
So what do you think?
What would you be willing to give up to be a princess? Often in life we give up lots of things for the person we fall in love with, maybe a house, maybe just a bad habit… and none of those lead to becoming a princess.
What are your thoughts?

The dog she’s not taking is only 5 yo. How can that be too old? How old is the beagle?
Peggy says
First of all. She will have a dual citizenship, she is not giving up her American citizen. As an American I’m sure she will not be giving up her political opinion, and her new Prince is involved in all kinds of charitable works, it”s one of main things they have in common. So, she wil km be doing charitable work still.
Vik says
The US doesn’t recognize dual citizenship. IF she is a Canadian, then maybe.. since Canada allows dual citizenship.
Judy says
I read she will gave dual citizenship.
Nancy says

I think I would much rather live simple and quiet and unknown. says
I think she will be giving up a lot more than just what was listed. privacy for one thing paparazzi will be following her to the end of days and her husband and their marriage and their children and their children and their marriages and on and on. She will be scrutinized on every level being an average person and trying to just have fun or relaxing moment will be challenged and commented on. I don’t know that I would want to give up all that for a title and lots and lots of money and a cool house I think I would much rather live simple and quiet and unknown.
