We have taken several long road trips with our kids over the years. Being in the car with them for eight hours at a time isn’t always easy, that’s for sure. We’ve heard our fair share of “I’m bored” and “Are we there yet?”
We all know the usual hacks like packing snacks, bringing along coloring books and of course, portable DVD players/electronic devices, etc. Even short trips with kids sometimes require those things.
But I have a new hack that works wonders to keep them entertained while you are in the car for long periods of time.
Audiobooks!
Kicking back and listening to the story of Harry Potter or Matilda will have your kids in a trance.
Worried your kids aren’t old enough? Well, think of it this way: they sit and listen to the radio, why wouldn’t they listen to a book?
And when my daughter was just 3 years old we read The Tale of Despereaux one summer and she loved it. I do think the sweet spot for this is 5-10 years old, but the younger kids often listen just as well.
So wait, how is this free?
If you go sign up for a free trial of Amazon Audible they let you download two free audiobooks! And once you download you keep them forever, even if you cancel.
Oh! And they let you trade the books if you start one that you realize you don’t like. Kids aren’t really getting into it? Just return it and grab another until you find the perfect one.
Just head to Audible and then in the genre click Children’s Books to find a huge selection.
Hey, maybe after they fall asleep for a nap you can even listen to a book you’ve been dying to read!
Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.

I wish to express my appreciation to the writer just for rescuing me from this particular difficulty. Just after looking through the the net and meeting thoughts which were not productive, I was thinking my life was well over. Living devoid of the strategies to the difficulties you have fixed through your main report is a serious case, and ones that would have in a negative way damaged my entire career if I had not come across your web page. Your own personal understanding and kindness in handling every aspect was tremendous. I’m not sure what I would have done if I had not come across such a point like this. I am able to at this moment look ahead to my future. Thanks a lot very much for your specialized and amazing guide. I won’t think twice to propose your blog to any individual who wants and needs support about this matter.

I love traveling with my kids by car.
Our last road trip was to Virginia. We flew into Richmond Airport and rented a car there click here. We also have two children, and sometimes they are cranky on the road, so I also use your life hack and turn on audiobooks or cartoons for them and so our trip is more peaceful

When traveling to different countries, we often compare our own lives and hobbies to new cities. Having learned the main sights, and museums and tasted a few local dishes, an evening out usually wants to be spent soulfully, in a way that will be memorable. A good opportunity to compare your hometown and get a feel for the locals can be an evening in a small restaurant with live jazz music. This style has long been international and in each country has acquired a flavor and uniqueness that can only be understood by attending a live concert. But for the atmosphere to be real and memorable, it is better to listen to jazz music in restaurants near me NYC, known only to residents of this city.
