A few months ago we took our little ones to visit the beach for the very first time. Living just a few miles from the ocean through high school and then moving about as far away from a beach as you can get, makes me crave it like my morning coffee.
Like most human beings, I love the beach, sun, sand, pina coladas… So I have wanted to take my kids to see the waves since they were born.
Walking them onto the sand for the first time is one of those happy moments you only get to live once. They loved it, of course.
Trump Miami generously comped our room for two nights for us and gave us a delicious breakfast buffet each morning. The hotel is in Sunny Isles Beach and has everything you could ever need all in one spot.
No, we did not leave the hotel one time in our five day stay.
For my two water loving children, it was perfection. There were two pools, a beach and a shop that sells all the snacks you could eat.
Because we were there with a three and five year old, we did not make our way to the spa or to partake in any of the water sports.
The trip we designed was one with no agenda other than playing, relaxing and spending time together as a family soaking in the sun. Experiencing our kids first airplane ride and their first time touching the sand. It was a very laid back trip which I really enjoyed. We had no itinerary or places we wanted to make sure we saw.
We woke up in the mornings and slowly made our way down to the buffet for breakfast, then changed into our swimming suits. We started at the beach (it was so nice having someone standing there waiting to set up beach chairs and an umbrella for you) and then when they had enough of that, we went to the pool.
There were waiters at the pool that were there to take your order if you ever got hungry so we were ordering french fries and chicken nuggets poolside. The kids loved it.
You have to be careful though, the birds will snatch your food right off your plate. We even saw one take an entire slice of pizza from a kid! Everyone thought it was hilarious.
As you can imagine, that many hours of water and sun made for happily exhausted little munchkins. They slept like rocks! Paityn usually has a hard time falling asleep in hotels or anywhere that isn’t her own bed, but here, she was golden.
We initially planned on only three nights and I’m glad we changed our mind and made it four. Next time, hopefully we can stay even longer.

Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.
