I am away on my annual mandatory work trip sitting in my lonely hotel room sulking. I love to travel, fly, stay in hotel rooms but with my husband and for fun, not solo and for work. I’ve been here for about two hours and already have much complaining to do. Mostly involving the hotel since I haven’t seen any other landmark but this place.
I suppose I should first list the great things which are of course the fact that I am here safely. That is great news. But then I get to the hotel room to spend my Sunday afternoon and evening (which is where everyone likes to spend their Sundays, no?) and I am starving. I find out that I can take a shuttle in an hour and a half to a shopping and restaurant area but I won’t get picked up until 7pm. So its no to option one. Option two is room service or the hotel restaurant which doesn’t open for two hours. Onto option three which is ordering something. The only something I can find to order is pizza which doesn’t sound good but whatever. I order and decide to go grab a drink and a snack to hold me over the 45 minutes it will take to get here. I head to the vending machine I passed on the way to my room and it is soda only, no snacks. I walk back to my room and call to see where one might be. There are no snack machines. So I walk back to the vending machine for a drink and do you have any idea how much that 20 oz bottle cost? THREE DOLLARS! Well its that or tap water so again whatever. I insert my THREE DOLLARS and choose fruit punch since I am not a soda drinker and it tells me it’s out. Next choice of what I will drink – which yes it is technically soda but I don’t count it since its clear and calorie free – Sierra Mist. OUT. So guess what I am drinking right now. Dr. Pepper. It’s been literally about 3 years since I have drank a DP and I feel slightly like a failure but slightly like I just don’t give a $#!@ at this point.
So now I’ve ate some of my pizza and would like to save it for later or tomorrow but there is no fridge in here. Waste. Oh, and let’s talk TV. Hardly any channel choices, terrible quality and no MTV.
I’m completely frustrated because this is where I will live for the next three nights and since I have no rental car and nothing in walking distance, this is my everything. I would have hoped to be comfy and accommodated in this room but I’m not. Here’s hoping for a better tomorrow.

sounds like your 3 days are gonna be crap! Sorry girl, at least a fridge would have been convenient!
Aw total bummer. I am sorry? Heated pool perhaps to relieve some stress:)?
Ouch! One bad incident always makes the rest bad too.Check if the hotel gives massages.
Wow! That does not sound like fun! Hope the next three dats will go by faster than your first day.
oh no! hopefully it will get better! thinking of you lots!
Aw bummer firend, sorry!=(
Not sure where you’re staying but did you call down to request a fridge? I did this a lot on business trips and a good majority of the time they could bring one up or move me to a different room that had one, at no additional cost. That’s so frustrating about the food and tv situation…I hated it when I had to travel for work all the time and would get stuck with situations like that. It was bad enough that I was always out of town away from the hubby….did you really have to stick me in some po-dunk town without much in the way of civilization!?!
Oh man, I hope the time goes by quickly so you can get back to the comfort of your home and to your hubby of course!
