Hospital bed rest day 15

Today is Monday again, which means another check on my cervical length.  I went in pretty hopeful this morning and just had a good feeling that things would be well enough for me to go home.  Of course, they were not.

The measurements he got were 1.1cm and 1.3cm which is about the same as last week –  maybe just a tiny bit shorter.  The problem today was that he saw funneling which means the top part of my cervix is starting to open and my bag of water is protruding down.  Nothing to freak out about but certainly not something you send a patient home with.  It means that my cervix is just very weak.

The doctor also thinks I need to continue on procardia (the medicine to stop contractions) and since it is technically a heart medication that lowers blood pressure, they only want you on it while you are in the hospital under close care.  (They take my blood pressure every 8 hours.)

The good news?  I have a very healthy baby in their swimming around.

Oh!  And I got my IV out – which with my luck will make another appearance within a day.
I’m not really feeling very confident that I’ll leave before the baby is born.  They only time frames they are talking about now are 30-32 weeks and that’s if I haven’t dilated by then.  And if I haven’t already had a baby by then.  My feeling is that I won’t be making it much past 30 weeks if I get that far.  With the progression of how things are going I just don’t think my cervix is going to hold up a whole lot longer.  I’m still focusing on the 28 week mark and just trying really hard to reach that milestone.  Hang in there, baby girl!
