Lately, Brady has been fascinated by my ever growing belly bump. Every time he comes to visit, at one point he will exclaim, “Belly!” and quickly lift my shirt up. Many times he wants to lift his shirt up too and press our bare bellies together.
But the last few days has been a little different and he has wanted to wrap his arms around me and lay his head down. Sometimes he’ll give it a kiss. We’ve taught him that in mommy’s belly is a “sister” and when prompted he will talk to her and say “Hi Paityn. Wub you.”
Today he layed with his ear pressed against my stomach, humming and it was so sweet. I imagined her listening to the hum of her big brother’s voice, soothing and comforting. I hope they are so close that the sound of his voice always triggers those same feelings. As a parent, I want to do whatever I can to encourage that relationship, although I’m not sure how yet. For now, I think they’ve got it covered.

Ahh this is so sweet. My little brother is going through a hard time and it’s been bittersweet to have a close relationship with him thru it – bitter because I wish I could take it from him, sweet because I’m glad he shared it.
I hope they are always close.
