How To Make Family Dinners Fun

A few weeks ago I took the Take Back The Table pledge to eat more dinners at the table. I have always loved having family meals around a table and think they are really important, but it can be hard sometimes. Life is busy and there is a lot happening during the week, making it hard sometimes to dedicate time to sit and have a meal together.

After taking the pledge we have been more focused on family meals. Sometimes, all you need is a reminder!

These ideas make dinner time fun and gets everyone really excited to sit down! Don’t make it a mandatory stress that you are forcing everyone into – make it FUN!

How To Make Family Dinners Fun

-Print and play this fun game of would you rather that is perfect for kids. Ask each other these silly questions like, “Would you rather live somewhere really cold or really hot?” You can even make them up as you go if you want.

-Play family trivia. Ask each other questions like, “Who weighed the most when they were born?” Before dinner brainstorm a bit and write down questions and answers on a sheet of paper.

-Make a family talk jar. Fill a jar up with conversation starters and family members can take turns choosing cards.

-Riddles! My kids love riddles and here is a huge list of 45 of them to ask your kids. These are so much fun.

-Play Guess 3 About Me. Each person has to come with three things about the others based on these prompts like, three things that annoy me or three places I would like to visit.

I hope you’ll take some of these ideas to get you excited about dinner and encourage you to take the pledge!
I took the pledge to #takebackthetable to show how important it is to spend more time with family at meal time.
