I’ve done a name art project with my son before and I’m looking to do another. The first one we did was with his name in stickers on canvas and he painted over it. In hindsight, I think masking tape (or painter’s tape) would be a much better choice. I also think I would choose watercolor for him at this age since other paints seem to get clumpy. He doesn’t quite understand when I direct him to smooth it out.
If you’d like to try a name art project with your toddler, here are several different ways you can try it. These would make such a cute addition to their bedroom or playroom!
Toddler Name Art Ideas
Messy Boy Quote – I love this quote and think this would look really cute in a little boys room. I mean it’s true – if it’s not messy, it’s not fun!
Masking Tape Letter Art – Use tape on a blank canvas to mark the letter of your child’s name. Give them markers or crayons to scribble around before removing the tape.
Toddler Chevron Art – We all know chevron is the latest trend, and for good reason, it’s great! Here is a version to try with chevron stripes.
Vinyl & Watercolor Art – The same concept as the others, but using vinyl on paper instead of tape. This lets you use different fonts or designs.
Abstract Art – Just tape a canvas with painter’s tape in any design you’d like and let the little one paint. Easy art!
Large Name Art – Another version of taping off your child’s name and letting them paint over it.
