No, my kids are not named after NFL players

So many people have mentioned the fact that both of our children’s names, and even a middle name, happen to match a few NFL players.  Yes, this is true: 

Brady: Tom Brady
Madden:  John Madden; Madden the video game
Paityn:  Peyton Manning, Walter Payton

Some don’t believe me, but I am here to state for the record, that football had absolutely nothing to do with our name choices.  Seriously

I blogged about why we chose the names Brady and Paityn in the past.  Brady’s name came from a simple copy.  We met someone who named their little boy Brady and I really liked it.  It seemed to stick around for the next few years until we got married and eventually got pregnant.  Then when we were searching for a middle name, I was perusing the baby name sites and saw Madden.  I loved it immediately and although I had to do some convincing for Guy to agree, we chose it.  When that certain website listed the name Madden, it referenced Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte.  Not John Madden. 

For Paityn, obviously I thought of Peyton Manning.  He’s a pretty famous Petyon.  But, in no way was that a check in the Paityn box.  In fact, it was probably a check in the other.  The real reason we came up with Paityn was from the movie The Game Plan with the Rock.  Guy fell in love with the name from that movie (which yes, was a football movie – gosh I can’t get away from it!) and he was smitten.  He would barely even consider another.

We have no dreams of famous football player children – unless that is their dream – we don’t wake up in the morning and toss Brady a ball or have him run drills. 

We just had a pretty crazy case of coincidence.
