If you’ve got an August born baby, guess what? They’re extra special.
I tend to agree with this logic because I was born in August, too! My assumption that if you landed here then you either have an August baby yourself or are expecting one soon. Welcome to the world of a summer baby.
10 Traits Of August Born Babies That Make Them Extra Special
Here are some super fun facts about those sweet August babies.
1. They love to be the center of attention.
Chances are, baby will be a Leo and Leos are born leaders, confident, dominate and creative. If your baby is more after August 22nd, they would actually be a Virgo.
My birthday falls exactly on 8/22 and have always felt much more like a Virgo. They are practical, analytical and a bit shy.
2. They can be a bit stubborn.
Leos are listed as one of the most stubborn astrological signs. They are firm in their beliefs and feelings and because of that, refuse to compromise. That doesn’t sound like a bad trait to me at all.
3. They could be really tall.
That same study about birth weight also told us that they noticed a correlation between all the extra Vitamin D that moms who are pregnant in the summer get and the babies height. Interesting!
4. They will either be the oldest or the youngest in their class.
August marks the school cut-off for beginning kindergarten. Kids born in August either fall right behind that cut off and are younger than all of their classmates or they fall after the cut-off and need to wait another year to begin, making them the oldest.
In some cases, parents wait until the following year no matter what day in August the kiddo is born. It’s called Kindergarten Redshirting and I actually did that for my June baby. (You can read about why we did it right here.)
5. They could struggle in school.
If August born babies do fall in that “youngest in class” category, they may struggle. This study showed that when a group of students is older by several months, the younger ones perform significantly worse on exams.
6. They are big babies.
Stats show that summer babies have slightly higher birth weights than other months. Of course, there are many varying factors that number, but it’s interesting to look at how the month effects a babies weight!
7. They have such a pretty birthstone!
It’s a light green color called peridot and it’s such a calming shade.
8. And a gorgeous birth flower, too!
Honesty first: I had no idea until today there was a such thing as birth flowers! It’s apparently a real ting and for August babies, it’s a gladiola (also known as a’sword lily’). They are gorgeous!
9. August born babies are born leaders.
Those Leo characteristics are in full effect again. Because they’re charismatic and confident (and yeah, maybe a bit bossy) they tend to make really great leaders. In fact, several presidents like Barack Obama and Lyndon B. Johnson were born in August!
10. Maybe they will love sandwiches!
This made me laugh. August is National Sandwich month and come to think of it, I do really love sandwiches! Then again, who doesn’t?
