One of my favorite Halloween crafts for kids of all time is this mason jar pumpkin. It’s simple to create and is so much fun for kids to light at night time.
Yesterday, while Paityn snoozed, Brady and I made a little Halloween craft. Is it just me or does the crafting bug bite us extra hard in the fall? I think it’s the combo of all the holiday’s mixed in with cooler weather and the desire to find more indoor activities.
Anywho, we made this glowing mason jar pumpkin. Pretty cool, huh? We loved watching it glow last night! Plus, if you use a flameless candle, it can double as a night light!
Per usual, this craft was easy. The supplies are listed below, but first can we stop for a second and talk about how old my baby boy looks here?
I opened this picture and almost lost my breath for a second. He looks like a little man! Stop growing, Brady. Stop it right now.
Ok, moving on…

What you’ll need:
- Mason Jar
- Orange tissue paper
- ModPodge
- Black construction paper
- Sponge brush
How To Make A Glowing Mason Jar Pumpkin
All you do is cut the tissue paper into squares and glue it on with ModPodge. Add a little extra layer of glue on top and then add your eyes and mouth. (A nose, too, if you want.)
I drew mine on black construction paper and then cut it out. Easy peasy!
When it’s dry and the sun goes down, pop in a tea light (or flameless candles) and watch it glow.
