For less than the cost of a single weekend getaway for a family, you can create a backyard wonderland for kids they’ll love all summer. I’m going to show you how.
A Backyard For Kids They’ll Love
Keeping the kids entertained and busy every summer is just plain hard, not to mention it can be expensive. Always trying to come up with something new and interesting to do with your children is a challenge for parents.
This year, create a backyard designed to keep the kids playing and active that is both affordable and fun. Take a look at the goodies I’ve found that deliver a powerful punch of entertainment without breaking the bank.
- Affordable above-ground pool – $170
You can’t go wrong with an above-ground pool. They’re inexpensive, the learning curve to taking care of them isn’t steep, and they provide endless hours of fun. This 12ft x 30in above-ground pool is currently $170, and the reviews are great.
“Setting this pool up required no tools. You only need a little common sense and patience,” says one reviewer. “The frame is strong! We didn’t get a ladder. The kids hop over the side. They can hand and sit on it. It’s very strong!”
2. Water slide – $45
What kid doesn’t love running as fast as they can and flinging themselves across the wet ground? Is someone going to get hurt? I can almost guarantee it. Will it be worth it? Almost definitely.
3. Saucer Swing – $50
I’ll admit to spending hours and hours as a grown woman twirling in one of these saucer swings while looking up at the night sky.
4. Play house – $182
A playhouse in the backyard is a childhood necessity. Where else are you going to fight with your brothers, sisters, and friends about whether the imaginary peanut butter and jelly is cut the right way?
5. Sandbox – $129
There is something absolutely magical about a sandbox. Kids can create anything! One reviewer wrote, “I love that the canopy will provide shade for our grandson, and it is a great value for the money!”
6. Oversized tower game – $40
I’ve found that not only will the kids enjoy building this giant Jenga in the backyard, they’ll love to take the blocks and build things with them when not playing the game.
7. Tossing games – $20
These tossing games are so much fun and there are enough ways to play with them to give your kids hours of fun. The balls are easy to catch because of the Velcro.
8. Water sprinkler for kids – $20
Adults all across the USA will tell you some of the happy memories of summer were of running through a sprinkler with friends. Don’t deprive your kiddos of that incredible rite of passage, LOL!
9. Zip line kit – $170
These are well worth the money if you have kids who have a lot of energy to burn. They’re surprisingly sturdy, too. One reviewer said, “Good product for the price. Took 2 people about an hour to set up. Kids are loving it.”
