Check out how to make a mime costume! This was my sons fun and creative idea last year and everyone thought it was so clever.
I think this idea stemmed from the funny mime character in Angry Birds. Remember him? We all thought his character was so funny!
This ended up being my all time favorite costume for him and everyone that saw him laughed.
He didn’t speak when he went door to door for candy, just held up his sign that said trick or treat.
Then, after you got candy, he just turned the sign around to the back which said thank you.
How to make your own mime costume
You need a few things–
- A simple pair of black or grey pants
- A black and white striped shirt
- A pair of suspenders
- A beret hat
- White gloves
- Some Halloween makeup
To paint his face, I just used white makeup and painted on with a cosmetic sponge. Then used a black makeup stick to draw over his eye brows, the triangles under his eyes and as lipstick.
One thing you might see I forgot was red, rosy cheeks. I totally spaced it that night!
To make the sign, I just grabbed some things I had at home already.
- White paper
- Black sticker letters
- Black and white washi tape
- A craft stick
His mime costume idea was fun to put into life for him and he loved it.

No spam, pinky promise.
