My kids relationship with their aunts is so special and raising them near family is such a blessing.
As a kid, I lived too far from most of our extended family to develop meaning relationships. It was fine that way, I never seemed to mind, but watching my kids have that bond has shown me just how special it is.
Here are just a few of the reasons why aunts are so stinkin’ special:
1. Aunts love our kids so well.
I will always be a fan of people who love and adore my kids. Aunts (and uncles, too!) bring more support to a basketball game or a dance recital. They are an extra high five for a job well done and an extra hug when you need it.
2. They make the best babysitters.
There aren’t a lot of people that moms trust to watch their precious babies. Aunts (and grandmas) are always at the top of my list. You know they love your kids like their own and will always take perfect care of them.
3. They can be like a bonus parent.
Aunts can help you like a bonus parent in so many ways. They are there to help give you advice, talk you through problems, and even act as a mediator between you as your kids get older.
4. Aunts can spoil your kids.
Let’s face it, we can only spoil our kids so much. We have to be the voice of reason and the people that say ‘no’. But aunts don’t have to. Just like grandma, they can say yes to that toy at the check out aisle or heck yea to an extra cookie after dinner.
5. Aunts give you the best gift: cousins!
We know just how important our kids cousins are and our aunt and uncles are the providers. What a special gift!
