Now that the weather is nice and summer is quickly approaching, we’re heading out to do fun things all the time. (Raise your hand if you’re SO happy summer is here!!!) We’re going to the pool, heading to baseball games, the park, local farms, fairs, you name it! I’ll bet your summers look the same.
It’s early in the season but I’m already forgetting things we need for outings. I’m scurrying around the house right before it’s time to go making sure I’ve got everything we need and ultimately, I always realize I forgot something. I had a light bulb moment over the weekend when I though, why don’t I keep it all in one place, ready to go?
Summer Go Bag
I gathered up everything I needed and prepared a summer go bag — a bag I can grab and go every time we’re heading out this summer. No more rounding up supplies every single time.
For the bag, I grabbed something called a bikini bag. I’ve never heard of one before but when I was out looking for something that was small enough to fit in my purse or pool bag, I saw this. It’s fantastic because it’s lined inside so if something spills everything in my purse is safe. I got this one at WalMart for $3.
Here is what is inside my go bag:
Banana Boat® Kids Free Sunscreen – This is my favorite because my kids are super sensitive about getting sunscreen in their eyes and this is tear-free. I love using a spray because it’s so much faster to get on those fidgeting kids who want to hurry and go play.
Banana Boat® Sport Face – These tubes of sunscreen are essential for getting sunscreen on your kids face, ears and neck.
Sunglasses – My kids have so many pairs yet they always forget them.
Band Aids & Neosporin To Go – Since almost every activity we do is outside and my kids are still young and clumsy, we are never accident-free.
Hand Cleansing Wipes – You could also just throw in a small travel sized package of baby wipes.
Lavender Essential Oil – I keep a small vial of lavender with me at all times to help with cuts, scrapes and the dreaded bee sting.
Aloe Vera – I pumped a few squirts of my large container of aloe into a small plastic dish so I can keep this with me. We love keeping aloe around for taking the itch out of a bug bite and reducing bruises after falls.
To keep all of these little things together without having to fish through my bag, I put them in a plastic crayon box. I found it in the office supplies section of the store and it seemed to be the perfect size!
Now you are all set and ready to head to the pool or the zoo or anywhere else your summer is taking you!

Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.
I love this. We spend hours on the road in the summer to get to a place where we spend hours outside. Things that are super organized and easy to use and easy to find in the car are a must for us. This would be perfect!
