And just like that the school year is over.
We live in the stat of Kansas, where the governor has closed all schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 year. Currently, they’re working on some sort of learning from home to finish out this last semester.
A week ago, my kids came home for a short Spring break, not knowing that was the last time they would be with their classmates and their teachers.
Like a lot of other years, we had two amazing teachers. So the first thing that came to my mind when I got word of the closure was how much we were going to miss them.
How much we were not ready to let them go.
We are sad to have to say goodbye to our teacher so early.
We are sad to not have those special hugs and high fives to welcome them each morning.
Saying goodbye at the end of the year can be exciting but also emotional as you close a chapter. Being sad to part with a teacher is something we’ve definitely felt before. But this abrupt ending is unprecedented.
This ending is hard.
We are going to miss our teachers so much. We’re so grateful for the time we have had this year. Thank you for the love that you have showered my kids with.
Thank you for comforting them and being their safe place when I’m not there. I’m sorry it had to end this way.
My hope is that soon life will be back to normal and we can see our teachers one last time for a proper goodbye.
