Easy Kids DIY Breakfast Station

kid activities

Do your kids make their own breakfast in the morning?  Depending on what day of the week it is, I either have time to make scrambled eggs or I have time to toss my son something to eat in the car.
We saw that a few of the Kellogg’s cereals have these super cool Avenger’s flyer discs inside and so we just had to have them. While I was at the store I grabbed a package of small plastic bowls with lids as well because I thought, why can’t he just make his own cereal?

Make a DIY Breakfast Station

To make a simple kids breakfast station, just grab your kids favorite cereal (I like Fruit Loops because my kids love it and it is low in sugar) and fill up one cup in an airtight container. Keep the bowls and a few other breakfast options in a drawer that they can easily access.

Then, put a gallon of milk in a container with a spigot. Show them how they can easily take the lid off and pour milk themselves right into the bowl.

The great thing about the milk container is that the liquid comes out VERY slowly. It almost seemed like it was impossible to overfill the bowl.

As much as I love being needed as a mommy, I do appreciate teaching my children a tiny bit of independence. Showing them how to make a quick breakfast is no different than teaching them to tie their own shoes or put dishes away.

It’s good for them! Plus, it gives them a bit more appreciation for all the things mom and dad do for them. For the mornings that I have overslept or we just aren’t moving as quickly as we’d like, having the option for my son to grab his own breakfast is fantastic!

As you can see, he loves The Avenger’s and is totally excited to collect all four flyer discs!
