How I Keep My Hard Wood Floors Protected In Winter

Almost two years ago we remodeled the majority of our home. The biggest project was taking out our old, light colored hardwood and replacing them with the floors of my dreams: a dark brown, hand-scraped wood.

I absolutely adore these floors.

If the first thing you’re thinking is, “I bet those are a pain to keep clean..” you’d be correct. In fact, all hardwood is difficult to keep clean. Especially in the winter.

My dogs are tracking in dirt and and all sorts of mud from the snowy ground and every time we come in and take our boots off we leave a mess.

Since this has been installed we’ve stuck with one brand of hardwood floor cleaner and we haven’t budged. It is the easiest way to keep them clean. The brand is Bona and they now have a PowerPlus cleaner that protects against against debris, excess moisture and humidity changes.
