If you have wondered if a self cleaning litter box is worth the price, check out our thoughts.
We have two new kitties in the family! Their names are Sugar and Catrick Meowhomes. (Shout out to the Kansas City Chiefs.) Before we brought them home, we knew the litter box was going to be a pain in our behinds.
We were cleaning it several times a day because having someone think our house smells like a litter box was too much. Every time I’d think, I sure wish I had a self cleaning litter box.
Thanks ChillX for sponsoring this post!

Oh Hello, ChillX AutoEgg.
When the big blue and white box arrived, we weren’t sure what to expect. We’d watched the videos on their site. But, you never know whether something is as great as they say until you use it, right?
It was exactly what we’d hoped and then some. Read on and I’ll tell you why we think it’s the best thing since clumping litter and toys that smell like catnip.

The self cleaning litter box of our dreams.
Our adorable balls of fire are part longtail Manx mixed with a cheetah, a fair amount of wild chimpanzee, and a personality of a thirty-five-year-old woman who yells at the waiter because there is a pickle in her fried pickles.
In other words, we were worried they were going to be too precious to use it. Thank goodness they did. They love it! I can tell because they never went back to the old box. One go in this one and that was it.

Why a self cleaning litter box is worth every penny.
Track your cat’s health. The ChillX will tell you if there are any differences in their… umm… poo and pee (from now on, I’ll just say P&P). There is a touchscreen inside the egg (I know, right?!), that displays your cat’s health log.
If red data appears frequently, please consider consulting your veterinarian regarding the health of your cat. These issues may be indicative of urinary tract concerns or bodily discomfort.
We once had a cat with urinary problems. Had this been around, we would have known to get her to the vet earlier.
Raking cat P&P is over. Freedom! When a fur baby uses the ChillX, the sensors know it’s time to get rid of the waste. Very quietly the slow rake starts to move and drags all that kitty business into a pull-out bin that’s lined with a biodegradable bag.
You simply pick up the bag and toss it.
The first day or so after you plug it in you might wonder if the ChillX is actually doing anything. It’s quiet. When you open up that bin to pull out the bag, you will be both delighted and horrified.
Delighted because you see evidence that it works like a boss. Horrified because, trust me, you’ve never seen so much cat bathroom business in one place in your life. (Except on Hoarders.) To know you don’t have to deal with P&P each day, every day, is all kinds of wonderful.
It looks seriously cool. Mama taught me looks don’t matter, but I’m going to make exceptions for this sleek, white egg. It’s that sleek, minimalist design people love.
The screen inside emits a soft, cool blue light peeking out of the egg. Catrick says this about how it looks….”qAAAAAAAAAAAA.” (I’m leaving this quote here because as I write, he is walking across my computer.)
Raking cat P&P is not my job now. Freedom! When a fur baby uses it, the sensors know it’s time to clean it up. Very quietly the slow rake starts to move and drags all that kitty business into a pull-out bin that’s lined with a biodegradable bag.

Your fur baby won’t get hurt during cleaning.
The AutoEgg is a smart device that will not perform self-cleaning if your furry friend only steps inside but does not use the bathroom. The device will automatically clean after 5 minutes after detecting the presence of 5g of waste.
In Automatic mode, if the AutoEgg detects sudden weight change greater than 1.1 lb. (0.5 kg), the Cat-Stuck Prevention function will be enabled, and the self-cleaning will pause immediately.

What about multiple cats or kittens?
Right now our kittens are doing fine with both of them using it. As they get older, we might get another one.
For Kittens under 4.4.lb you’ll need to initiate the automatic self-cleaning after your initial set up. To do so place one object in the AutoEgg weighing 4.4 lb or more and then place our litter scoop in there as well. After 15 seconds remove the object weighing 4.4 lb, and voilà! Automatic self-cleaning will now perform as scheduled at 3 & 9 am/pm every day.
We recommend one indoor cat per AutoEgg. It could work for up to two cats per unit, but you will need to clean the waste bin more frequently.

In summary, yes, a self cleaning litter box is absolutely worth it.

I really really love your sense of humor. It’s very clever and funny also. I haven’t read the article about the Chillbix yet but can’t wait to see if this is the answer to my prayers regarding the self cleaning litter box. Thank you for taking the time to tell us of your experience with the self cleaning litter egg. Will let you know later my thoughts, maybe.
Sincerely,
A White
