“Oh my gosh, Brian’s going to kill me!” was the quote on Instagram after she trimmed off 5 inches of hair.
How many times have you heard a girl say that?
Or better yet, how many times have you heard a girl says she can’t cut her hair because her husband would “kill her.”
And sometimes, it’s dads, too. Last month after I posted a photo of my 7-year-old with a new, gorgeous short cut, someone on Instagram commented that her dad wouldn’t allow her to cut her hair until she was 13. Other girls have told me similar stories.
It makes my brain want to draw drastic conclusions that the girls who do what feels good to them and tells their high school boyfriends to hit the road when they drag them for their hair or clothes or attitude, all had dads that supported their choices in things like hair when they were little.
Long Hair is Sexy Hair
In a Daily Mail poll – of all the hairstyles a woman could flaunt – results showed an overwhelming 43% of men considered long, wavy locks to be the sexiest.
I get it, that hair style is really beautiful. But there are plenty of other beautiful hair styles, including no hair at all.
And to think that boyfriends/husbands/dads actually get angry over your choice of hair, seems a bit barbarian to me.
We all know the common trend where a girl cuts her hair after a breakup, right? It’s because they’ve been wanting a new style but we’re too afraid! With no man in their life they give themselves permission to do what they want.
Men, I promise I’m not hating on you. (At least not all of you.) And I certainly think you’re entitled to your opinion. We all have our own personal preferences, right? Maybe your girl loves or hates your facial hair.
No one is saying that you’ve gotta love your girls new pixie cut.
But what you shouldn’t do, is take those opinions of your own and hand them over to her or to your growing daughter.
What you shouldn’t do is be angry about hair.
Hair, you guys. HAIR.
One day you won’t have any choice over your hair anymore. One day it will be grey, or thin, or fall out entirely. While you’ve got the chance, do what the heck you want with it. ♥

No hair is not a beautiful hairstyle! lol Medical or heredity reasons, fine. Choice, inconsiderate of spouse. That goes for men too.

I have ambivalent feelings. On the one hand, I would like to try to express my individuality through haircuts and extreme coloring. However, something always keeps me from taking such a step. On the other hand, I am against being prohibited from experimenting with my appearance. My family life is a search for a compromise in glaminati style – https://glaminati.com/ The medium-length haircut and high-quality styling suited my temperament and taste perfectly.

It’s interesting how different families have unique perspectives on something as personal as hair. While every parent has their own reasons and values, it’s important to remember that self-expression, even through something as simple as a haircut, can be empowering for children. Encouraging open conversations about these choices can help bridge understanding between parents and kids, allowing them to explore their identities while respecting family values.

Men getting angry about women with short hair is outdated and tiresome. Personal style is a choice, not dictated by others’ preferences. It’s like a dry fruit wholesaler complaining about someone not liking raisins – pointless and unnecessary. Let people express themselves, however, they feel comfortable, including hairstyles.
