Looking for natural cold sore remedies has been something I’ve spent a lot of time doing. Ever since the first one appeared in the corner of my mouth I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of them quick.
Cold sores on their own take more than a week to heal. They’re painful, annoying, and yes, really ugly.
If you’re like me and everyone else that has ever had a cold sore, 7-10 days is much too long to wait for it to disappear.
Here are some natural cold sore remedies to try next time you feel that tingle on your lip.
Natural Cold Sore Remedies
1. Kick a cold sore quick by rubbing pure Vanilla extract on the bump the minute you feel it start to tingle. Hold on the lip for 2 minutes, repeat 4x per day.
2. Place a dab of toothpaste that has baking soda on the sore and let it dry.
3. Keep it clean and prevent it from spreading by dabbing peroxide onto the sore twice a day. This will also speed up the healing process.
4. Soak a cotton ball in cold, whole milk and hold it onto the sore several times a day. The milk has immunoglobulins: proteins that act as antibodies.
Extra tip: when it gets dry and starts to crack, it is healing. At that point keep Carmex lip balm around to keep it moist and less painful. This stuff works much better than regular chapstick.
