Looking for natural cold sore remedies has been something I’ve spent a lot of time doing. Ever since the first one appeared in the corner of my mouth I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of them quick.
Cold sores on their own take more than a week to heal. They’re painful, annoying, and yes, really ugly.
If you’re like me and everyone else that has ever had a cold sore, 7-10 days is much too long to wait for it to disappear.
Here are some natural cold sore remedies to try next time you feel that tingle on your lip.
Natural Cold Sore Remedies
1. Kick a cold sore quick by rubbing pure Vanilla extract on the bump the minute you feel it start to tingle. Hold on the lip for 2 minutes, repeat 4x per day.
2. Place a dab of toothpaste that has baking soda on the sore and let it dry.
3. Keep it clean and prevent it from spreading by dabbing peroxide onto the sore twice a day. This will also speed up the healing process.
4. Soak a cotton ball in cold, whole milk and hold it onto the sore several times a day. The milk has immunoglobulins: proteins that act as antibodies.
Extra tip: when it gets dry and starts to crack, it is healing. At that point keep Carmex lip balm around to keep it moist and less painful. This stuff works much better than regular chapstick.

Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.
I really needed this tip for my son, thanks for sharing 💙❤
I was also told that rubbing your own earwax on a cold sore also helps, that that is what the Indians did back in the day..
I haven’t heard the rubbing of earwax but I have heard that rubbing behind your ear and getting some of the body’s natural oils then rubbing it lightly on your lip helps. I have done this several times as soon as I feel a cold sore starting and it’s always went away. It don’t seem like there are any oils on your fingers after rubbing (I have very dry skin) but there must be enough natural oil to do the trick because it always works.
I use earwax
Abreva and a few of these mention take a minute for me
If I run earwax when I feel my lip getting weird on me it prevents it from getting ugly. And it might swell but go down.
Put a little Lemon Balm Oil on a cold sore or fever blister. Works great!
I always dab bleach on them to prevent them from spreading, it also dries them out.
Use BAG BALM Instead and you won’t have to do any of this shit!!!
I put tea tree oil on mine a few times a day and that usually clears it up.
Take Lyseine vitamins, 3 or 4 at a time very 4 hours when you feel one start. The virus feeds off the Lyseine and stops the cold sore.
Exactly, works every time.
The peroxide one isn’t a good suggestion. I did it and it ate very deep into my lip at the edge and left a permanent scar.
This was before I started taking the amino acid L-Lysine. If you take 1 capsule daily you will never get another cold sore. You can purchase it at any drug store in the vitamin section.
This is NOT true.
You can put a dap of clear finger nail polish on the cold sore when you first fell it and it will heal it dont take long either
Everyone always talks about how to make them heal faster and never talks about how to make them stop appearing all together. I’ve found every food that triggers my cold sores and drinks and a way around triggers. I used to get cold sores every month and now I NEVER get them! It’s good to know how to make them heal quickly but it’s better to know what’s makes you vulnerable to getting them in the first place.
Vicks works better than anything
Tea tree oil works better than anything else if you can do it as soon as you feel the first tingle. Dab on spot several times the first 2 days. The cold sore won’t come to fruition at all. Then dab it for the next to days to completely dry it up.
Ice is the best remedy for cold sores/fever blisters. I’ve had them all my life and it’s the only thing that actually stops them. If you catch it when you first feel the tingle, they will never come up. They thrive on heat so eliminate the heat they dont survive (my doctor told me this remedy believe it or not)
