This school memory binder has been one of the smartest things I have done! We’ve had so much paper clutter accumulating from our kids backpacks and this was the solution that worked best for us.
In my course, Decluttered, I talk about how much of a sentimental clutterer I am. Because of that, when my kids bring home artwork and even just scribbles on paper, I’m sad to throw it away. In fact, I WASN’T throwing it away. Instead it was piling up in every corner of the house.
After about the first grade I realized, what good is this? Why have all of these papers if they are just in piles? It would be better to save our favorites, things that are special, in a smart way. Doing that has given me the freedom to throw away the excess.
School Memory Binder
This way of keeping all your kids school papers (and photos, and art, and awards, and report cards, etc) is pretty simple. All you’ll need is a few things from the office supply section of your local store.
- A binder (any size will do – I’m using a small one for now until we outgrow it)
- Document protectors
- These school binder printables (optional)
Each kiddo gets their own binder and you can keep everything nice and organized and protected. They will love being able to go back and flip through the pages looking at there old memories! I so wish I had one of these from when I was a kid!
These printables make the whole thing super easy. Each grade (Preschool-Senior year) has a place to put their school photo and fill out their favorite color and special memories, etc. The cover has an editable file so you can customize it with your little ones name.
This is going to make life this school year so much easier and I am vowing to not keep every.single.piece of paper they bring home. These will be so sweet to have in the years to come!
