Love and Marriage

And A Baby Carriage.

This time last year… sort of

Uncategorized

Last year on Good Friday my husband proposed to me. Except last year Good Friday was on March 21st, so I suppose technically our engagement anniversary has already passed. But I like to remember it as Good Friday because it was good. I never posted about the proposal because I didn’t start this blog until after we got engaged. So in honor of that special day I will relive it here.

Guy and I had been talking about taking a weekend get-a-way trip to a cabin where we could get out of town and spend time doing nothing but relaxing in the woods. Our original plan had been to go for Valentine’s day, but switched it to Easter weekend since he would be off work. I had just started my new job the week before, and had told my employer previously that I would need Friday off for something that had been planned in advance, which they were fine with.

We woke up on Friday morning and went to breakfast in town at a local diner and then went back home to pack up the car. We were heading to the outskirts of Branson, MO to a beautiful cabin equipped with a fireplace, pool table and most importantly, a hot tub. I had told one of my besties, Ju, a few weeks earlier that I had a sneaking suspicion he may propose. At one point I had suggested just staying home and not wasting the money and he was adamant that we went. As we got closer and hadn’t noticed any suspicious behavior, and the number one sign: no money missing from our bank account (for a ring), I decided no way was he proposing. Ju was excited for me and wished me luck before I left, but I assured her it was not going to happen. I better not get my hopes up.

So we made our way to the cabin on Friday evening and later that night he dimmed all the lights, started a fire, poured us champagne, put some music on and asked me to slow dance. We danced by the fire and he told all the sweet things that I hold sacred to me, and then got down on one knee. He pulled the ring out of a little box that was sitting on the coffee table. He is so lucky I didn’t snoop there, I’m a total snooper.

I put my hands over my mouth and asked him if I was being Punkd. He said no. Then I said yes.
