Between homework, sports, volunteer communities, work, errands and everything else moms have to do and help their families do on a regular basis, it’s all too easy for us to get overwhelmed, run down and burnt out.
The good news is: It doesn’t have to be this way. No matter what it is that has you overwhelmed right now, you can find relief right in time to truly enjoy summer with your kids. Don’t wait and spend your summer feeling rushed and frazzled as well. Here are three tips you need to start implementing today.
1. Cut Out Any Unnecessary Activities
With the school year winding down and activities coming to a close anyways, now is the perfect time to really re-evaluate the activities your family is involved in and whether or not they should be. Are your kids in a manageable number of sports that they truly enjoy? Are you involved with causes and committees that you are truly passionate about? Or are there things you need to cut back on for your health and the health of your family?
While cutting out extra activities may not be fun at first, it won’t be long until you’re loving the new change and wondering how you kept up with such a busy schedule in the first place. Don’t sign up for things because you feel you have to. Do the activities you love because you want to and because they are important to you.
2. Implement Schedules and To-Do Lists
When you have a million things to do, it can be difficult to remember any of them long enough to actually get anything accomplished. Combat this by creating a daily schedule for yourself and putting all of your responsibilities down on a to-do list. Not only will this help you see what doesn’t need to be on your list in the first place, but it will help you prioritize and get things checked off the list so you don’t feel so overwhelmed.
3. Make Time for Things You Enjoy
While it may see counter-intuitive, sometimes the best way to get things done is simply to walk away and do something else you enjoy for a while. The truth is, you can’t keep running full steam ahead without sleep, proper nutrition and rest all of the time. Each of us needs some amount of downtime in order to relax, rejuvenate and be ready to work when it’s time. If you aren’t getting this rest time, your entire schedule will suffer. Make it a priority.
So many of us are used to living this incredibly fast paced life, but honestly–this life is a choice. You don’t have to be everything to everyone and you don’t have to overwhelm yourself with way too many items on your to-do list. Today is a great day to step back, reevaluate, and make time for the things that really matter most to you–not just all of the tasks you feel like you have to do.
How overwhelmed are you on a scale of 1-10? What is overwhelming you? What steps do you need to take to reduce this overwhelm?

I really liked your article, it was well written, as I am a young mother, I was able to emphasize some points that are so necessary in everyday life. But there are also a lot of things to do and prove that a woman is a real superhero. After giving birth, I was sent on maternity leave, I was depressed, I thought that no one needed me anymore and my professional career was over, but sepialists https://us.calmerry.com/blog/motivation/women-in-leadership-calmerry-research/ came to my aid and put me back on my feet, and after that I took up my duties with renewed vigor. So always remember, you are needed both at home and at work.
