DIY Sinus Congestion Bath Soak

Sinus congestion is one of those irritating ailments that bugs me constantly.  I don’t know if it’s living in Kansas or if it’s just my make up, but I get congested a lot.

Over the weekend I concocted what I like to call a sinus bath.  It’s bath salts with my favorite essential oils for keeping my airways clean.  The result is a relaxing bath that will hopefully provide some relief. (If you don’t have time for a bath, try these shower bombs instead.)

How To Make a Sinus Bath

To make this, you’ll need the following:

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup of baking soda
  • A mason jar or airtight container
  • Peppermint essential oils
  • Eucalyptus Radiata essential oils
  • Optional: green food coloring

Easy Relief for Sinus Congestion

Mix the baking soda and Epsom salt together.  Once it’s mixed, add in the food coloring if you’re going to complete that step.  All this does is make it look colorful, otherwise it will be white.

Then add 5 drops of peppermint oil and 10 drops of eucalyptus oil.  Mix it all up, and put it in a jar. Now you have this ready to go when you feel congested and all around icky. Just draw a warm bath and put a couple of scoops of this in with the water.

Sinusalia – I always keep this on hand for when I start to feel sinus trouble coming my way. This medicine is homeopathic and it works better than anything else I’ve tried.

Sleepytime Sinus Soother Tea – This will help you to relax, get some rest and hopefully feel a little better when you wake up

Pain Relief Mask and Eye Pillow – This is genius! This compression max conforms to your face and the beads inside massage right around the eyes. It feels soooo good.

Personal Steam Inhaler – Soothing steam penetrates nasal, sinus and throat passages naturally.

This DIY is super easy and so helpful for sinus headache relief. Sinus congestion is frustrating but this is so helpful. #Healthy #DIY

it probably would if you used the detox amounts: 2 cups of epsom salts, 1 cup of baking soda, and the essential oils…. I don’t think the amount in the recipe would be useful for the size of my bath.

What exactly is the baking soda for? My understanding is it’s awfully drying and acidic to be using in a bath soak all over you skin. I believe it’s fairly popular right now for homemade beauty remedies, but it does mess up your skin’s pH balance…skin is normally a pH of 4.5/5, neutral is a 7, baking soda is a 9 (>7 being acidic). It’s great to hear that the EO’s help your congestion, but the baking soda may be something to reconsider. (-:

baking soda is “base” and is alkaline. diseases and illnesses only grow in an acidic body. 1 tsp of baking soda in 6 oz of water will stop burning of bladder infections and itching of yeast infections. RN who uses it on my patients.

Aislinn, I agree. You really don’t need the soda. People like it because it makes their skin slippery. I’ve always just used oils and Epsom salt. 2 cups salt and however much oil you need to smell it. 40 minutes in the tub. Keep it as warm as you can and drink water during that time. Love it!

I just wanted to say that baking soda is not acidic. Acids have a pH7). And acids are used in lotions all the time and are not harmful unless the pH is severely low (i.e. 4). For example, orange oil contains citric acid which is quite nice in say a body scrub. It will make your skin more photo sensitive for a time, but just because something is acidic or basic does not mean that it is harmful.

You can spread it on a cookie sheet and put it in the oven on low heat just to dry to oils. It will adhere to the salt and remove any moisture.

I know I will be crucified for saying this. Essential oils should never be used on anyone under the age of 2. However hydrosols are a fantastic alternative to essential oils. The are the water byproduct of the distillation process when processing essential oils. They are safe for newborns, cats (in which many essential oils are toxic) and the elderly. Hydrosols have many of the benefits of the essential oil but are much milder.

Keep it since warm since you can and beverage water in that time. Enjoy it !!!

We tend to use plumbing day-to-day, whether we love it or in no way. That’s for what reason when plumbing problems typically arise, we press the panic button at the idea of losing a lot of our plumbing. Accompanied by a master specialist, however, plumbing solutions are only a mobile call away. But not just do a lot of our plumbing can include repairs not to mention servicing, but they even include routine maintenance not to mention check-ups to check no problems someday occur.

Gmail, Google’s electronic mailbox, is clearly one of the most popular services on the Internet, with more than 1.5 billion active users worldwide in 2021. It must be said that it has many strengths and that Google is doing everything to make it essential.

First, Gmail is completely free. And messaging offers a comfortable storage capacity of 15 GB as standard, which allows you to keep many messages with their attachments without having to clean regularly.

Gmail has a lot of very practical functions that are constantly evolving. These include, for example, the system of classification by filters, labels and tabs, automatic recognition of spam, the possibility of scheduling mailings or even creating an almost infinite number of alias addresses. All this without counting the ease of access to the various Google services automatically associated with Gmail

I expect to be strung up for admitting this. Anyone under the age of 2 should never be exposed to essential oils. However, they make an excellent substitute for essential oils. This is what you get after distilling essential oils. They are safe for babies, pets, and the elderly. The hydrosols are less intense than the essential oils, yet offer many of the same advantages.
