Love and Marriage

And A Baby Carriage.

I’ve got an itch

home

An no, the answer isn’t more cowbell, its home decor.  I’m sick of my living room and want to upgrade.  Its been decorated with the same stuff for over three years now which to me is much too long.  In my past life I would have a new living room entirely, maybe even two, in a three year span.  I need to keep it movin’.

I have been so inspired by modern design and especially the color palette of gray and white.  I stalked the IKEA website last week and put together this little idea of perfection:

I fell madly in love.  My husband?  Let out a loud BOO.  I feel like our tastes used to be identical and are slowly shifting in different directions.  (I’m wondering if he saw an actual living room in this decor if he would feel differently than just looking at a mood board.)

So I’m on the prowl of something so grand that even my husband will agree we need an update.  One problem is that our walls are tan and I am not into any designs that match with tan and he refuses to paint.

This is a couple years old, the rug is gone and the hardwood is all new.

I get such an urge for change every few months.  I just don’t like staring at the same things day in, day out.  I keep bringing up a kitchen remodel, adding onto the house, or just buying a new one completely.  I’m happy I’ve just managed to stay in one house for 6 years really – that is definitely the longest I’ve lived anywhere.  PLUS, I work here, at home, so shouldn’t I get first say on what it looks like?  I mean, I rarely look at anything else!

Hey husband, what do you think of these?

I’d personally go with the 3rd pic because that’s really my taste, but the second one looks like a lot of fun! I’m with you….I live in a tan box and I want out!

It really resonated with me. That curious little nag, whether it’s a metaphor for excitement or inspiration, is such a relatable spark of human life, right? I remember feeling that same flutter when I first decided to chase a personal project—like the kind of itch you can’t ignore, urging you forward. By the way, I recently peeked at some CSC ServiceWorks reviews while waiting for laundry to finish—and it’s funny how feedback on washers and dryers can parallel life: a bit of praise here, a useful tip there—it all helps smooth the ride. Keep embracing those itches—they can lead to wonderful detours.
