This paper plate rainbow is an incredibly easy and fun craft for kids! You just need a few things from the house you probably already have and my one super awesome secret ingredient.
Paper Plate Rainbow
Supplies:
- Plain paper plate
- Cotton balls
- Kwik Stix (my secret ingredient!)
Kwik Stix is partnering with me on this post to show you how to paint with zero mess! They look like a glue stick but they are solid tempera paint. Yes, solid paint! I had never heard of anything like it. They come in TONS of colors. We tried the basic colors, the neon and the metallic.
Aren’t the colors beautiful?
To make the paper plate rainbow, we simply cut a paper plate in half and painted. I loved the fact that my five year old painted all sorts of colors on this rainbow and didn’t make a single mess. We didn’t need a brush, or a towel or a cup of water. Plus, it dries in 90 seconds.
When you’re done painting, add a few drops of glue onto six cotton balls and place them at the bottom of the rainbow for clouds. It’s so easy!
This is an awesome rainy day activity to brighten up your afternoon or anytime you just need a little creativity.
Kwik Stix are great to keep around the house for any art project – they work great on poster board, cardboard, canvas and even wood.
Happy crafting!
