Everyone knows we’ve been struggling a bit with naming this baby girl of ours. Over the weekend we really sat down and went down the list and narrowed it down to the final contenders. Then on Monday all hell broke loose and I moved into the hospital. As I was walking in, completely unsure of what was going to happen and feeling so scared I thought to myself, this little girl needs a name. I text my husband and said I didn’t care what it was, just name her.
I told him I wanted Luella for the middle name since it means warrior and I need her to be a fighter. He offered his suggestion and I agreed. He asked me to sleep on it and so when I woke up for the day at 3:30am I flipped on the light in my room and stumbled to the white board and wrote this:
I’m happy to have a name to call her when I’m listening to her on the monitors or when she’s moving around in my belly. Paityn Luella.
Liz is a just a mom trying to keep it real about how little she sleeps, how often she gets puked on and how much she loves them. You can find her here every day writing about real-mom moments.

Hi, Liz! You are going to make me cry!! Love this name, especially the Luella “fighter” part! Just read through your last couple of posts and I’m so sorry you are having to go through with this! I can’t imagine. I’ll be thinking about and praying for you and your family and little Paityn.
PS. Thanks for your help with rugs today..you must be really bored;)

Beautiful name! We have a cousin who named her daughter that. It has a very honest sound to it.
