How to make the perfect cup of cocoa

During these cold winter months I’ve found a new obsession with hot cocoa.  I love holding a warm mug in my hand while sitting under a soft blanket. I can only handle one cup of coffee a day and hot tea makes me gag so its hot chocolate for me!

How to make the perfect cup of cocoa

I’ve tried a few things and have perfected my routine after having some not so tasty experiences. Usually it was always too watery. So…

First tip: Follow the directions on the box for the amount of water. You’re mug won’t be full but that’s ok!  If u want a large cup then use two packets.

Second tip, put the chocolate packet in an empty mug, before you add the hot water.  Since we have a Keurig, I pour the chocolate in, then place the mug under and press the button for a small cup of water.

Then, stir and add your marshmallows if they are separate.

Then comes my secret weapon: coffee creamer.  Add just a bit since its already sweet.

So far so good! The last step is my favorite – whipped cream!  I loooove whipped cream and usually eat a few spoonfuls before I scoop a dollop on top but that’s ok since it’s light, right?

Then all that is left is too drink up!

Enjoy!

This post made me crave hot cocoa… luckily I was going grocery shopping last night anyway, so grabbed some cocoa mix, marshmallows and whipped cream, and in this crazy cold weather, it tasted SO good!
