What is Valentine’s Crack?

If you’ve ever enjoyed the viral Christmas Crack, you already know how addictive this treat is! This Valentine’s Day version uses the same simple method—a salty cracker base topped with homemade toffee, but we’ve given it a romantic makeover with pink chocolate and festive sprinkles.

Ingredients You Need

All you need is a few ingredients and you have a fun holiday dessert.

  • Saltine Crackers: One standard sleeve (about 40 crackers). These provide the perfect salty crunch for the base.
  • Butter: One cup (two sticks) of salted or unsalted butter.
  • Brown Sugar: One cup of light or dark brown sugar, packed.
  • White Chocolate: One bag (12 oz) of white chocolate chips, almond bark, or melting wafers for easy spreading.
  • Pink Melting Wafers: 1/2 cup of pink candy melts to create those festive swirls.
  • Valentine’s Day Sprinkles: Heart-shaped sprinkles or pink sanding sugar for the finishing touch.

Simple pantry staples are all you need for this pretty-in-pink toffee!

How To Make Valentine’s Crack

  1. Prep the Base: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single, even layer until the pan is full.
  2. Make the Toffee: In a medium saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar over low heat. Once melted and combined, increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Stir constantly for about 3 minutes until the mixture thickens and turns a deep caramel color.
  3. Bake the Toffee: Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbly all over.
  4. Add the Toppings: Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the white chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a minute to soften, then spread them into a smooth layer. While warm, drizzle the melted pink wafers on top and use a toothpick or skewer to create festive swirls.
  5. Set and Serve: Add your Valentine’s sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet. Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least one hour until fully hardened. Once set, use a sharp knife to crack or cut the toffee into pieces.

That’s it! Your kiddos will love eating this festive treat and helping you swirl the chocolate.

How to Store: Keep your Valentine Crack in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the refrigerator for up to one week. It also freezes beautifully if you want to make it ahead of time!
