Why We Think December Born Babies Are So Great

Is your baby due this December? Good for you, your baby is thought of to be extra special! (As if every baby wasn’t already sweet and special enough.)

December Babies Are Extra Special

Both of my sweet little ones were summer babies, born right in the beginning of the warm season. It was nice for a couple of reasons; one was I never had to be huge and pregnant in the highest temperatures of the year. (Thank goodness.)

But, had either of them been born in December, there are a couple of things that science says would have made them a little different, albeit just as loved and adored.

They Could Live To Be 100

The University of Chicago completed a study on the chances of survival to age 100 based on your birth month. Guess who topped the list? December babies! (You can read the whole study here, if you’re interested in that sort of thing.)

“…more semi-supercentenarians (people living over 105) than expected were born in December.”

Statistically, December is the month with the least amount of babies born each year, making them special right off the bat. The chances of them having to share a birthday with a family member or friend are the lowest possible odds.

Opinion: they also have one of the prettiest birthstones!

But what about the fact that they have to share their birthday with Christmas? Aren’t they overshadowed and receive less presents?

Well, I suppose that’s up to mom and dad to decide, but I’d say I’d be happy to share my birthday with Jesus if that means I may live a little longer.

Cheers to all the December babies!
