Our Solution To After School Hunger: The Mini Meal
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Yummy Dino Buddies. All opinions are 100% mine.
“Mom, I’m hungry!”
My son exclaims this every single day after school. I’m sure yours do, too. He’s a growing boy, plays hard and has a big appetite. I can’t remember a day he has come home and not been ready to eat everything in sight.
Since he gets home at 3:30 and twice a week he leaves for baseball practice at 5:30, we are in a little bit of a dilemma. I can either let him eat snacks when he gets home to hold him over until dinner or feed him dinner super early.
I’m not sure about you but a four o’clock dinner doesn’t work out for me. You would be starving by the evening for sure.
I would rather not have him eat a bunch of junk food prior to heading out to a rigorous baseball practice so that option is out, too.
So, I have a new solution for these busy school nights where you need something yummy to hold over those growling bellies.
It’s a mini meal.
Our favorite after school mini meal is Dino Buddies chicken breast nuggets. They’re an excellent source of calcium, omega 3, and a good source of iron. They are quick and easy because they’re fully cooked and you can just pop them in the microwave.
I can feel good knowing that he is getting a hearty after school snack that will keep him energized and full until dinnertime.
And by the way, what little boy doesn’t love food in the shape of a dinosaur? As he eats he loves to fly the pterodactyls around, march the t-rex across the plate and charge them into his dipping sauce. It’s a totally fun snack.
I got a big box (with a resealable bag which makes me so happy) at Dillon’s grocery store so I’m all set for the fall baseball season. I count this mini meal as a total mom win and I will take all that I can get!
