How adorable are these Valentine Rice Krispie treats? The kids and I had so much fun making them. They would be a really festive dessert to bring to a Valentine’s Day party or just keep at home for yourself!
As much as I love the original recipe, I thought it would be fun to flavor it and cut them into hearts especially for the holiday. All you need to do is add one special ingredient.
Valentine Rice Krispie Treats
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
- 1 bag of strawberry marshmallows
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1 package of jello
Melt the butter in a large saucepan and once it’s almost melted, add in your bag of marshmallows. Stir on low heat until they are melted, then add in a package of Jello. Once it’s mixed together, add your Rice Krispie cereal and stir until combined. Then press into a dish and refrigerate.
You can use any strawberry/berry Jello that looks good to you. We chose the Frozen Anna Very Berry Jello because if my daughter is with me at the store, she’s going to pick something with a princess on it!
When you make any krispie treat, remember to line the pan with parchment paper and spray with pan spray. It makes getting them out so much easier. To make them flat on top and less bumpy, I used a silicone spatula to smash it down.
The next day I used a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut them into hearts. You can also put the mixture into individual heart shaped silicone molds, too. Or of course, good old fashion squares!
These were really yummy and actually made my whole kitchen smell like a strawberry!
