8 Taylor Swift Songs I Want My Daughter To Listen To

mommyhood

I may possibly be the biggest 30 year old Taylor Swift fan there is. I’m totally cool with that by the way and have no problem telling everyone that I buy all her records and will be sitting in the front row of her 1989 tour this year. I’ll be there rocking the number 13 on the front of my hand and sing-screaming.

I also have no problem saying that I hope my daughter loves her music to, because there is such value in her words. So many messages I want me little girl to hear. Things I wish I could say just as poetically and artistic as she. But since I can’t, I want her to listen to these songs and sing-scream her way through adolescence.

Innocent. You will mess up a lot and so will everyone around you. We all do it. Be kind to people who make mistakes and do their best to fix them.

Time turns flames to embers
You’ll have new Septembers
Every one of us has messed up too

Never Grow Up.  If I could choose any magical power it would be to keep you little, longer.

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what is sounded like what your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother’s favorite songs

Fifteen. I promise you, whatever you think you should or shouldn’t do to get a boys attention, will only work temporarily.  In the end, he will move on and what he takes with him is up to you.

When all you wanted was to be wanted
I wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now
Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday
But I realized some bigger dreams of mine

Mean. People are mean and it sucks. Try and laugh it off and remember, there is a such thing as karma.

And I can see you years from now in a bar,
Talking over a football game,
With that same big loud opinion but,
Nobody’s listening,
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things

White Horse. Put your foot down when people try to come in and out of your life.

I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it’s too late for you
And your white horse, to come around

Picture To Burn. Boys that hurt you have no place in your world. Take a minute to be sad, burn their pictures and move on.

And if you come around saying sorry to me
My daddy’s gonna show you how sorry you’ll be

Shake It Off. It’s true, heart-breakers will break (break, break) and there’s nothing you can do about that. It’s not a reflection of you, so shake it off.
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake

The Best Day. I will always be here and I will always be on your side. Forever and ever.

I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
Staying back and watching me shine

What song do you hope your little girl listens to?
