Housekeeping.
I’ll be honest, I pretty much suck at it. I am not one of those organized, clean-obsessed housewives – although I wish everyday at 11:11 that I could be. I am completely envious of those people. The ones that never have a dirty floor, laundry is always done and their house smells like vanilla. How the hell do you do it?
I usually have one giant cleaning session on the weekends which really doesn’t even do the trick. And I make sure that my house always looks nice before company comes over. But I want more than that. I want a spotless house. I want cabinets organized, closets neatly arranged, and every baseboard and window sill dustless. Who knows when I’ll get around to that…
I’m considering going back to the way we all learned to clean in the first place which is a chore list. If I set aside different things to do each day then the house might stay cleaner longer and I won’t have so much to do all at once. Are you all just awesome home makers or do you have to implement some type of plan of action? Does anyone have a maid? That would be ideal, but maybe I should just try not to be so lazy and do it myself.
I’m off to buy crayons and poster board to make myself a sticker chore chart. Once I reach the end of the line I get ice cream!

ha! A sticker chore chart… I want one too!
I love your sticker chore chart idea, so cute!
My roomies and I just got a maid about a month ago – she comes once every two weeks to do the hard stuff (mopping hardcore, vacuuming, washing mirrors, etc). TOTALLY worth the money.
that’s a good idea–I love making list and plus you’ll probably feel good about yourself when you ‘check’ it off..and who doesn’t love icecream!
I’m very OCD clean..but its because I was raised like that, ha.. my mom would follow me around with a paper towel, making sure I didn’t make a mess. If my blow dryer or straightener was left out on my vanity–it was like the end of the world for her, haha.
thanks for the comment on my very very long story..haha.
OH…and I read your post on the day of your wedding..the Timeline one and the recap. It was so adorable. I texted my BF right after reading it and said you better be VERY romantic the day before and on our wedding day..haha your husband was so sweet with that text message 🙂
Miss Pretty –
Thanks! My husband is very sweet. Hopefully your BF will take a hint. 🙂
I love the idea of the sticker chore chart. I need one of those. I’m a totally obsessive compulsive anal retentive neat freak but I HATE cleaning. Mostly I just get all crazy when the house isn’t clean and then ask my hubby why he isn’t cleaning it! Ha ha! Our house is usually pretty clean but behind closed doors (i.e. cupboards, closets etc) it’s a disaster!
Let us know how the chore chart works for you.
I’m going to tell you a BIG secret. Husby and I have someone come in twice a month to clean the apartment… It’s just easier than spending all my free time on the weekends cleaning.
I’m the exact same way- I want a spotless house and it usually is pretty clean, but certainly not spotless (much to my husband’s sadness). My Saturday cleaning never does the trick either!
I found this book to be really helpful in recognizing that some of my habits like not putting things back are the reasons the apartment is not spotless. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Unclutter-Your-Home-Simple-Simplicity/dp/1580171087/ref=pd_sim_b_3 It is a very easy and quick read.
