This heart map I made for our anniversary back in 2012 is one of my most favorite DIY’s ever.  Each map signifies an important place in your life.

DIY Heart Map

The original heart map idea that I saw here was lovely, but, I didn’t have an old map and didn’t want to buy one, so I came up with another idea that cost me $0.
Good ole Google came in to save the day with Google Maps and all I did was type in the address and save the image of the map.  Then, in Photoshop I simply added text, a heart, and a clipping mask.  Place the photo you saved, print and frame.
Easy DIY Heart Map

I used where we live, where we got married and the hospital where Brady was born.  Then I used a frame I bought on sale months ago that was waiting for a home.  So incredibly easy.

Here are a few ideas for locations you can use:

  • Where you met your spouse
  • Proposal location
  • Where you married
  • Where child was born
  • Where child was conceived
  • Your first home together
  • Vacation spots

Here is my PSD file with the clipping mask so all you need to do is place your map image.

Now that we have another family member, I need to get a larger frame and add one more location!
