Why You Need A Family Mini-Vacation

Everyone needs a little break from the stress of everyday life; a small moment to step away from your “normal” and focus on yourself and your family. Fitting in a big trip can be difficult to do because it can be incredibly expensive and you need to carve out several days in your schedule which is really hard sometimes. If you have a family of 5, for instance, the cost of airfare can be thousands of dollars.

Taking a big trip like that is certainly something to save for and plan, but you shouldn’t just stay home and wait while you are saving up. You can still take a little getaway with your family and I feel like it’s important to do that. Recently, my family and I took a little weekend trip to an amazing local hotel within an hour driving distance of our house. We stayed at the Embassy Suites by HiltonTM Kansas City Olathe in their awesome two-room suite and had a really great time.

Why You Need A Family Mini-Vacation

Someone is cleaning up after you. You don’t have to make the beds, sweep the floor and wipe the counters. We left to do some swimming in the indoor pool and came back to beautifully made beds, empty trash cans and fresh towels. That never happens at my house.

There are no usual distractions. No laundry sitting in the dryer, no pet to feed, no dinner to cook. You can truly focus on your family with no worries about normal household stuff. I loved waking up in the morning and walking downstairs to an enormous breakfast selection (that was included in our stay) knowing I didn’t have to cook anything; I could just sit and have breakfast with my family.

es19

Time to focus on family. Being together on a mini vacation is the perfect reason to really focus on spending good, quality time with your family. We jumped on the bed, swam together, sat on the floor and played Go Fish, snuggled in bed and watched a movie, and just stayed connected. It was really nice.

es20

New places for your kids to explore. Kids like to explore and mine loved wandering around the hotel. We checked out the water fountain, pushed the elevator buttons numerous times, swam in the pool, and checked out all the fun decor.

es13

There was also an Evening Reception we got to take the kids to each night for free drinks and snacks. They thought it was so fun!

We had such a great weekend and are now convinced that Embassy Suites by HiltonTM is the perfect hotel for our family and we will be staying there again and again.

I am in my crazy busy season at work and my husband owns his own business so sometimes, trying to get the whole family together for some family time is difficult. I would love a mini vacation for the family just to be together and spend quality time without having to clean up after ourselves. We’ve also been on a super tight budget this year trying to pay down things so we can afford to buy a home.

A big vacation is just not going to be in our budget for several years, most likely, but I would still like to take our kids somewhere fun that they would remember.

I love a mini vacation from time to time to spend some alone time with my husband who lives 2000 miles away. A weekend with just each other to relax, reconnect and rejuvenate oneself to get prepared for the normal routine again doesn’t seem like a bad idea at all 🙂

My family of three would be great candidates for a mini vacation– my daughter is finishing up her first year of full-day school along with taking dance lessons, competing with Odyssey of the Mind, and leveling up in swimming; my husband has devoted his life and career to caring for critically ill children, and I have volunteered for several community organizations throughout the year, mainly those that benefit the children of our city. We’d love to have a weekend to travel to a place we’ve never visited and reconnect without our regular obligations.

    Tell us why you’d love a mini-getaway

My husband passed away recently so a mini getaway would be a nice place to relax, try to find my new normal

I would love a mini getaway because we have not had a vacation in 5 years and I need to get away from all the crazy things we have going on with the DIY renovations we are doing!

I’d like a mini vacation because we seldom go anywhere anymore and I’d love for that to change!
