Yesterday we made some awesome red and green glitter playdough for Christmas.  These two are obsessed with playing with playdough!

Christmas Glitter Playdough

I usually follow this recipe but today I changed it up a bit for the green dough and I really liked my adaptation.  You can see in the photo that the green is much smoother than the red.  It is much softer, too.  Essentially, it is the same ingredients but just slightly different amounts, plus I added glitter and food coloring.

My Playdough Recipe

1/4 c. of flour

1/8 c. of salt

1 packet of koolaid

1/2 c. of water

1 tsp of vegetable oil

1 tbsp of glitter

Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.  Boil the water and once it’s boiling, turn it off and add in the oil.  Immediately mix the water/oil mixture into your flour mixture and stir and kneed until it’s the consistency of playdough!

For the red, I used cherry kool-aid and for the green I used lemonade and then added in 4 drops of green food coloring.

Let me know if you try it and what you think!  It is so much better than the store bought kind, I think.  🙂

Yeah! Since you use koolaid in the mix, it smells exactly like that flavor.
