Here’s the best way to wash your face mask. It’s quick, simple and the most effective way to get rid of all those germs.
My kids masks have been absolutely disgusting. Not only are there things lingering all in them that I can’t see, there’s literally dirt all over it.
And you totally can’t tell they had chocolate ice cream and immediately put the mask on after. Definitely not.
How To Wash Your Face Mask
This is how I’ve been washing our masks and wanted to share. Of course, the best guidance is always online at CDC.gov.
- Fill your sink with hot water and add in 5 tablespoons beach to each gallon of water.
- Soak your mask in the bleach water for 5 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Set outside in the sun to dry.
- Toss in the dryer for a few minutes on hot.
I’m leaving these to dry in the sun on the condition I don’t need it back quickly. You can just skip right to the dryer if you’re pinched for time.
The sun is known as a natural sanitizer so by leaving our masks to dry in the sun I feel like it’s getting a little extra cleaning boost.
Will Bleach Stain My Mask?
Nope! When it is diluted this way it doesn’t stain the fabric. BUT, if you are nervous, spot check it first before submerging the whole mask.
I put my solid black mask in and didn’t have any discoloration at all.
That’s it! Washing your mask is pretty simple. Don’t forget to keep them AND your hands clean.
