This 3 ingredient Banana Bread recipe is quickly becoming my favorite way to bake bread. Why use 6 ingredients when you only need half?
If I told you how often I made this stuff, I would be embarrassed. My family not only is totally obsessed with banana bread but we ALWAYS have over ripe bananas that need attention.
There is no need to toss those ugly black bananas!
3 Ingredient Banana Bread
For years and years I have stuck with my moms old recipe of Chocolate Chip Banana Bread which I still really adore. But I was making this stuff so often that doing it simpler would be great.
Luckily, I found a way to make it with just 3 ingredients!
Ingredients You Need
- A box of yellow cake mix. Any brand will do, but make sure it’s yellow and not white.
- Bananas. The older the better.
- Eggs.
What To Do
- Smush the bananas with a fork. (I usually do this part on a plate because it’s what I find easiest.)
- Mix ingredients. Add the eggs and cake mix together in a large bowl.
- Bake. Split the batter into two small loaf pans and bake on 350 for about 20 minutes. It’s done with the top starts to brown and a toothpick comes out clean. The more batter in a pan the longer it takes.
Optional (But awesome)
Add chocolate chips! We almost never make our 3 ingredient banana bread without them. When you’re done mixing your ingredients, just add half a bag of chips and give it one or two stirs to combine it.
You can also sprinkles a few on top of the batter once it’s in the pan.

Hey
So you just wrote bananas and eggs
But not how many of each.. or is it the same as the picture? 3 bananas & two eggs?
I can’t find more information on this recipe post.
Do you use all the ingredients in the cake mix instructions as well? (Water/oil/eggs?)

I agree with the other comment, you don’t mention AMOUNTS of bananas or if you make the cake mix like the box directions…
Wendy says
3-4 whole ripe bananas
1 box yellow cake mix (you can also use gluten free, sugar free or other flavor)
2 large eggs
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Smash bananas in a large bowl, then add remaining ingredients and mix well.
Spray 2 small loaf pans or 1 large loaf pan with non stick cooking spray.
Fill the pans (or pan) with batter.
Bake at for 35-40 minutes – you might need to bake longer if using 1 loaf pan.
All I did was google, banana bread cake mix easy when you see something like this and wonder

I just went by the picture. Cake mix, 3 bananas, 2 eggs. The only thing it left out was spray the pan with cooking spray which I did, It did need to cook 30 minutes (not 20) and it came out perfect. Making another loaf as we speak

How many bananas and I assume you add smushed bananas to the cake mix. Do you grease and flour the pans?

Hi. Please include the pan measurements. Is a large loaf pan 9×5? What do you consider a small loaf pan?
Thank you!
