How to Sneak More Protein Into Foods You Already Love

If you’re trying to eat more protein but don’t want to completely overhaul everything you eat, there are actually some really simple ways to sneak more into your day.

I’ve been paying more attention to protein lately, and for me, the biggest thing is convenience. I’m much more likely to stick with something if it doesn’t require a ton of planning, meal prepping or cooking.

So instead of making things complicated, I’ve been looking for easy ways to add protein to foods and meals I already like.

Thanks to Naked Nutrition for sponsoring this post!

Start With Breakfast

Breakfast is probably one of the easiest places to add more protein, especially if your usual breakfast is something quick.

Naked Nutrition sent me their Chocolate Peanut Butter Naked Oats to try, which combines gluten-free rolled oats with whey protein, peanut flour, cocoa and chia seeds.

One of the things I like about the Naked Oats is how easy they are to make. You can prepare them as overnight oats or blend them into a shake, so this is a really easy option to have ready for a busy morning.

And if you’re someone who normally skips breakfast because you don’t have time to cook something, having something you can grab quickly makes a huge difference.

Add Protein to Your Smoothies

This might be the easiest one of all and comes in at my

Adding a scoop of Whey Protein to a smoothie instantly turns something you may already be making into an easy way to get more protein.

Having an unflavored protein is essential so you aren’t trying to match your favorite smoothie flavor to your protein.

Naked Nutrition also sent me their Naked Whey to try. It’s made with grass-fed whey from small dairy farms and doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors.

I like this option because you can change your smoothie depending on what you have around. Banana and peanut butter, frozen berries, chocolate, coffee — there are so many combinations that it doesn’t have to feel like you’re drinking the exact same thing every day.

Give Your Regular Breakfast a Protein Boost

Protein powder doesn’t have to be just for shakes.

You can also mix it into foods you’re already making, like:

♡ oatmeal

♡ pancakes

♡ waffles

♡ yogurt

♡ smoothie bowls

This is one of my favorite kinds of food swaps because you’re not really changing what you eat. You’re just giving something you already like a little boost.

Next on my list of things to try is Naked Nutrition’s protein coffee!

Make Your Snacks Count

I am definitely guilty of grabbing whatever is easiest when I’m hungry, so having a few protein options ready makes this much easier.

Some simple high-protein snack ideas include:

♡ Greek yogurt with fruit

♡ hard-boiled eggs

♡ cheese and crackers

♡ cottage cheese and fruit

♡ apple or banana with peanut butter

♡ a quick protein shake

♡ nuts with a piece of fruit

You don’t have to make an elaborate snack or spend Sunday afternoon preparing containers of food for the entire week. Sometimes just having a couple of easy options in the refrigerator makes all the difference.

Look at What You Already Eat

I think this is the easiest way to make any nutrition goal feel less overwhelming.

Instead of thinking, “I need to completely change how I eat,” look at what you already eat and see where you can add something.

Having oatmeal? Add protein.

Making a smoothie? Add a scoop of whey.

Grabbing a snack? Pair your fruit with Greek yogurt, cheese or peanut butter.

Making eggs? Add some cottage cheese or serve them with Greek yogurt on the side.

Small changes throughout the day can be much easier to stick with than trying to suddenly follow a completely different diet.

Keep It Simple

If I have learned anything, it’s that I am much more likely to stick with something when it is EASY.

That’s what I like about having products like Naked Oats and Naked Whey around. They give me another quick option when I want to add protein without having to put a lot of thought into it.

Naked Nutrition has a huge list of protein powder options including options for Vegans.

They have supplements, sparkling energy drinks, nutrition shakes for kids and other products depending on what you’re looking for.

If getting more protein into your day is one of your goals, start small. Pick breakfast, your afternoon snack or whatever meal is easiest for you and start there. You definitely don’t have to change everything at once!
