I can’t believe it’s back to school time! I say that about everything though.. I can’t believe it’s already Christmas, already Summer, already your birthday… Time flies. But anyway, back to the rice krispie treats.

These are super cute for a back to school snack (or end of the school snack for that matter). And if you are not in the mood to do any backing, guess what, you can just buy rice krispies premade and add all the decor. I won’t tell anyone.

They’re adorable, aren’t they? Here is what you’ll need if you are going to make these from scratch. Hint: you can also follow a recipe that comes on the side of a Rice Krispie cereal box.

Directions

-Spray a 9×9 pan with a non-stick coating spray and set aside. In a large sauce pan, melt the butter over low heat.
-Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until melted.
-Remove from heat and stir in the cereal and salt (optional) until well-coated.
-Transfer the cereal mixture to prepared pan and press down firmly.
-Cool for at least 45 minutes and cut into 6 large bars.

Ok, now that the bars are ready, it’s time to decorate!

Spread a thin layer of vanilla icing on the top of each Rice Krispies bar.

Then, place back on the cookie sheet for 30 minutes to harden a bit.

Notebook Krispies Step 1b

Use the red icing to pipe a line all the way down on the left side of each bar, about half an inch off the

Use the blue icing to pipe 4 lines across each bar, spaced evenly apart.

Notebook Krispies step 3b

Add three chocolate chip “hole punches” on the left, upside down.

Add text if you want. All done!!
